ways essential for the successful execution of any programme and more so, to organize effective training programmes” exhorted Dr Bidyut C Deka, Vice Chancellor, AAU during the Regional Workshop and Academic Meeting for Training Planning for NE Region which was held from February 13-15, 2025 at Extension Education Institute (NE Region), Guwahati. Dr Rajumoni Bordoloi, Director, EEI(NER) delivered the Welcome Address mentioning emerging areas of training in Agricultural Extension. Few publications of EEI were ceremonially released on the occasion. About 40 senior Officers from Agriculture and Allied Departments from 9 States of NE Region were present.

“Learning, Unlearning and Re-learning are crucial to remain updated in present times utilizing the benefits from various technologies that are rapidly and continuously evolving” – stated Mr Mainul Islam Mondal, IPS , Inspector General of Police (CID), Assam Police who was present as the Chief Guest. Dr Selvam, Joint Director, DOAC, Ministry of Agriculture & FW, Govt of India, New Delhi expressed that all need to sincerely carry out their extension endeavours to effectively transfer the technologies amongst the extension personnel in various Govt Departments and NGOs stationed in remote locations so that the same could reach the farming community near and far. The Performance Report of EEI (NE Region) 2024-25 was presented by Dr S Borua, Sr.Faculty, EEI (NER).
“Convergence must be achieved to provide holistic extension support in a stream-lined and timely manner to accelerate Rural and Agricultural Development” stated Dr.R Murugesan, Director, NIRD &PR, Guwahati delivering his remarks in the Academic Committee Meeting and urged the Officers to explore ways for achieving convergence in their jurisdiction of work. Other dignitories present in the meeting were Dr R Thakuria, Director, ODL, AAU, Mrs Dimpy Bora, IFS Director, Assam Forest School, Guwahati, Dr H K Bhattacharyya, ADEE, AAU, Khanapara, Dr M Kalita. Professor (Pl Path), College of, Horticulture, Nalbari, Dr D M Barman, Deputy Director, Spices Board,Guwahati besides Directors of SAMETIs from nine states in NE Region. Dr C Deka, Faculty, EEI(NER) presented the Academic Calendar for the year 2025-26.
Faculty members Dr C Deka and Dr S Borua Faculty, EEI-NER coordinated the event which culminated with a Field Visit to the Spices processing unit and Mushroom-growing village Alihagaon in Loharghat being adopted by EEI(NER).
