The Extension Education Institute (EEI), Khanapara, Guwahati is a regional training institute for the capacity building of extension functionaries engaged in agricultural development in the northeastern states. It was established in the year 1987, and thus, youngest among the four EEIs established by the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India for the four regions of the country viz. The northern region, the Western region, the Southern region, and the Northeastern region. EEI-NE Region is functioning under the administrative control of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, and is fully funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The operational area of the EEI-NE Region covers nine states which include, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and West Bengal. The Director of the Institute is responsible for managing day-to-day activities and training programmes.
